In the beginning…
Spiralocks originated from a casual chat between friends, Peta and Helen, in 2011. Both embarking on their dreadlock journeys, they faced a dilemma: how to comfortably tie up their new locks. Their solution? A bit of wire and wool, tinkered with around the kitchen table, birthed the very first ‘spiralock’. What started as a personal fix soon became a game-changer. Recognising its potential, they knew they had to share Spiralocks with the world.
Ethically created
Spiralocks exceeded our wildest expectations, swiftly becoming a global sensation for dreadlock enthusiasts. As demand surged, handcrafting each piece became impossible, prompting us to take an ethical route. Opting against mass factory production, we sought to empower underprivileged families in remote communities. Despite daunting obstacles, our search led us to Gunu village in Fiji. The journey has been arduous, but witnessing the transformative impact Spiralocks has had on the lives of families in this impoverished community makes every hardship worthwhile.
